From scaling-and-root-planing to full-arch reconstruction.
1977
DC Perio is established
The practice opens in Washington, DC as a specialty periodontal office focused on the surgical management of periodontal disease and the early generations of dental implant therapy.
1980s
Periodontal surgery as the standard of care
The practice continues through the era when scaling and root planing, traditional flap surgery, and the early forms of regenerative grafting defined specialty periodontal practice.
1990s
The implant era arrives
Dental implants move from an experimental therapy into routine specialist practice. The practice incorporates implant placement and pre-prosthetic bone grafting as core services alongside its periodontal work.
2000s
Regenerative procedures and guided surgery
Regenerative grafting matures. Bone grafting materials and barrier membranes become predictable. CBCT 3D imaging and guided surgical workflow start to shape implant case planning.
2010s
LANAP and minimally invasive periodontal therapy
Laser-assisted periodontal therapy (LANAP) and minimally invasive techniques like Chao Pinhole gum grafting enter the specialist toolkit. The practice adopts each technology selectively, as case fit and evidence support.
2020s
Full-arch reconstruction as a routine specialty service
Full-arch implant therapy — same-day temporary teeth in selected cases, fixed and removable options — becomes routine specialist work. The practice continues to refine its case planning workflow for full-arch and complex implant cases.

Two Washington, DC locations · Three periodontists
DC Perio operates Farragut Square (downtown) and Eastern Market (Capitol Hill) under three periodontists. The phone number, the standard of care, and the doctors are the same at both offices.

A specialty practice, not a general office
DC Perio has been a periodontics and implant specialty practice from day one. We do not do general dentistry. We do not pull primary teeth from kids. We focus on the surgical, regenerative, and implant work that defines the periodontics specialty.
Referral relationships built across decades
The general dentists who refer to DC Perio today are often the children of dentists who referred to DC Perio in earlier decades. That continuity reflects the value we place on the referral relationship — your patient comes back to your office for the restorative work.
Evidence-informed, evolution-aware
We adopt new techniques as the evidence supports them and the case fit makes sense. LANAP, Chao Pinhole, modern bone graft materials, CBCT planning, full-arch implant workflow — each has earned a place in the practice over time.
Continuity in the doctor team
Three periodontists practice together at DC Perio today, with overlapping clinical philosophies and complementary specialty focus. The team approach is by design.
